With this sweeping installation of a caravan of hundreds of animals Gerald Zahn has already taken over various exhibition spaces in the art world. However this is not a scene of a major zoo break out, but rather an exodus from the playrooms of our childhoods.
Coming from all the continents and geological eras, the plastic animals are only a few centimetres high, yet in this installation they overcome all the obstacles and laws of nature.
The inspiration for the project can be found in the caravan of animals moving into the Noah’s Ark, the myth of the „Trojan horse“ which invades the city of Troy disguised as a harmless animal sculpture and the uprisings of animals in the two fables about the abuse of power: „The Town Musicians of Bremen“ and the novel „Animal Farm“ by George Orwell.
